Exceptional 1936 Carl Zeiss Jena Silvarem 6x30 Field Binoculars
A fine example of pre-war German engineering featuring a highly desirable post-WWII factory retrofit coating.
True to its historic serial number (1898700), this pair originally left Jena in 1936 with uncoated glass. It was later upgraded by technicians with an anti-reflective single coating, clearly evidenced by the distinct deep blue and purple lens reflections. This upgrade combines the premium, lead-based glass clarity of the 1930s with modern contrast and brightness, rivaling later multi-coated models.
Condition & Mechanics: Optics: Crystal clear.
The lenses and prisms are completely free of mold, fungus, haze, or internal dirt.
Exceptional brightness and stunning resolution with a sharp 3D depth-of-field.
Fully operational. The central focus wheel and right eye diopter turn smoothly and precisely as they should. Alignment (collimation) is perfect.
Very good vintage condition. The textured body grip is secure. There is some honest, light paint loss on the metal edges and hinge from field use, highlighting their historical character (please review all photos).
Includes the attached vintage leather neck strap. Note: There is no case included with this pair.
A mechanically perfect, optically brilliant piece of Zeiss history ready for the field or a premium collection.
