A beautiful and finely made 19th-century Salviati & C. Murano glass plate, dating to approximately 1860–1872.
The plate is formed from extremely fine, closely spaced white latticino/mezza filigrana spiral threads, creating the striking concentric spiral design radiating from the centre. Interspersed throughout are delicate bands of copper aventurine, giving the glass its subtle sparkling metallic effect.
The plate is completed with a finely applied ruby-red glass rim, characteristic of early Salviati production.
A particularly good example of the sophisticated revival of historic Venetian glassmaking techniques developed by Antonio Salviati during the second half of the 19th century.
Diameter: 17.8cm
Weight: 149g
Excellent perfect condition with no chips, cracks, repairs or restoration.
A highly decorative and collectable example of early Salviati Murano glass. The combination of fine filigrana, aventurine and red rim is especially attractive.
