A beautiful 19th-century Salviati & C. Murano glass dish, dating to approximately 1860–1872.
The shallow circular dish is finely constructed with exceptionally delicate white mezza filigrana (half-filigrana) spiral canes, interspersed with translucent turquoise-blue glass and shimmering copper aventurine.
The canes form a continuous, tightly wound spiral radiating from the centre, creating an intricate pattern which changes subtly as the light passes through the glass. The exceptionally fine execution is characteristic of the sophisticated Venetian glass revival associated with Antonio Salviati during the mid-19th century.
The dish has a low, gently curved profile and retains its original hand-blown character.
Diameter: 16.6cm
