Antique 19thC Baroque Cast Brass Architectural Mount Appliqué | Ornate Mascaron Filigree Vanity Card Tray Plate | Hand-Tooled Pattern 1018

An exceptional, heavy-cast brass ornamental panel dating to the late 19th century. Showcasing exquisite Neo-Renaissance and Baroque Revival styling, this versatile piece functions beautifully today as a luxury card tray, vanity platter, or an elegant vide-poche for keys and small items.

The design features a beautifully textured central oval, bordered by a ribbed frame and dramatic, pierced openwork filigree.

Integrated into the scrolling foliage are four highly detailed, stylized mascarons (mythological faces).

Original Function: The inclusion of factory-cast mounting holes on the upper rim indicates this rare piece was originally created as a high-end architectural applique, furniture mount, or mirror frame component before being used as a tabletop tray.

The reverse side functions as an "authenticity passport," displaying coarse, manual bench-file marks from its 19th-century craftsman, along with a distinct, hand-inscribed foundry pattern number: 1018.

Measures approx. 30cm x 24cm
Weight 1.2kg

The central oval has been cleared of heavy fingerprints to reveal its bright, reflective gold tone, while the deep, original dark oxidation has been intentionally left inside the crevices of the faces and filigree to highlight the dramatic high-relief casting.

Back: Left entirely uncleaned and unpolished to preserve its rich, genuine historical patina, sand-cast grain texture, and the handwritten "1018" foundry inscription.

Very good condition. Has been used as a decorative wall plaque. Free from cracks or modern damage.

Material: Heavy Cast Brass
