Vintage French Signed Gérard Torcheux Black Amethyst Aventurine Art Glass Soliflore Vase – 26cm
Mid-Century French mouth-blown soliflore (bud) vase by renowned French Master Glassmaker (Maître Verrier) Gérard Torcheux.
Crafted at his historic Verrerie des Coteaux studio in Poncé-sur-le-Loir, France, this piece is a beautiful testament to 20th-century studio glass artistry.
At first glance, this exquisite piece appears to be a sleek, opaque obsidian-black glass. However, it holds a beautiful secret: it is actually made from heavily saturated "black amethyst" glass. When held up to a bright window or flashlight, the dense walls reveal a spectacular, deep violet-plum hue.
Suspended deep within the glass walls are mesmerizing aventurine/metallic inclusions (fine flakes of copper or mica). As light catches the vase, these internal metallic elements shimmer brightly, creating a cosmic "stardust" contrast against the rich amethyst background.
