Rare Antique Early 20th Century Bakhnoug Tunisian Wedding Shawl Woven Wool Blanket with Animal Motifs And Geometric Patterns.
These hand woven blankets are prized and meaningful family artifacts, used as apparel during important events in Berber regions of Tunisia.
This piece is old and, as such, has had a life. It was created for a particular familial/tribal purpose for which it has been used. Although in very good condition there are some areas of fading to the natural dyes, as to be expected. There are some small points of discolouration on a few of the white fibres. There are no visible moth holes.
