Authentic Antique Loetz "Creta Glatt" Iridescent Art Glass Vase – Circa 1900

An exceptional, guaranteed authentic example of Austrian/Bohemian Art Nouveau art glass from the celebrated workshops of Johann Loetz Witwe (Klostermühle).

Dating precisely to the peak of the movement circa 1900–1902, this exquisite cabinet-sized vase is executed in the highly collectible "Creta Glatt" (smooth green) decor line.

Design & Craftsmanship:
The vase features a translucent emerald green glass body enveloped in a masterful, high-luster metallic fuming.

Under lighting, the surface shifts brilliantly with an "oil-slick" iridescence, flashing vivid peacock blue, violet, and silvery-gold tones.

The body is formed with 18 perfectly balanced optic-molded ribs that flare elegantly into a dramatic, six-point ruffled trumpet rim.

This piece exhibits all the textbook structural hallmarks prized by serious glass collectors.
The base features a deeply ground, perfectly smooth, concave polished pontil mark characteristic of early golden-era Loetz production.

Honest, age-appropriate shelf friction wear is visible around the bottom contact rim.

The ruffled top edge is entirely fire-polished, melted soft and perfectly smooth to the touch in the furnace, rather than ground or molded.

True to period artisanal glass, the walls are incredibly delicate and thin. At 13cm tall, it weighs a mere 160 grams, confirming a masterfully mouth-blown creation, far removed from heavy, thick-based mid-century reproductions or carnival glass.

The base features authentic micro-crazing (onion-skin texture) within the iridescence, alongside a microscopic trapped glass impurity beneath the metallic skin. Internal shear shock marks from the glassmaker’s tools are visible inside the polished pontil structure, providing a beautiful window into its 120-year-old handmade history.

Dimensions & Weight:
• Height: 13.0 cm (approx. 5.1 inches)
• Weight: 160 grams
• Form: 18 optic ribs, 6-point ruffled rim

Magnificent antique condition. The glass is beautifully resonant and completely healthy, with no internal sickness, cloudiness, cracks, or repairs. The delicate fire-polished ruffled rim is flawless, with no chips or flea bites.
A quintessential piece of turn-of-the-century Bohemian luxury, perfect for a dedicated Art Nouveau display or an elite cabinet collection.
