Antique French Art Deco Pewter Pitcher by Alice and Eugene Chanal Hand Hammered Jug Signed

£150.00

This exquisite antique French pewter pitcher (pichet en étain) is a stunning example of early 20th-century metalwork designed and signed by the celebrated Parisian artisans Alice & Eugène Chanal.

Active around 1910–1925, the couple were famous for their highly tactile, artisanal "étain martelé" (hammered pewter) creations.

The piece features a beautifully stylized, geometric Brutalist form seamlessly combining Art Nouveau and early Art Deco aesthetics.

There is a stamped signature encompassed within the body design of the jug, 'AChanal" (for Alice Chanal) and the base is clearly stamped with the workshop's signature "ETAINS D'ART" text and "AE" monogram.

Origin: France
Maker: Alice & Eugène Chanal
Material: Fine Art Pewter (Étain d'Art)
Dimensions: 20cm Tall x 9cm Wide (at widest point)

Excellent antique condition with a beautiful natural patina and minor surface wear consistent with age. There is a slight indent to the base edge. Please view photos.

Perfect as a dramatic statement vase, a historical addition to a metalware collection, or a unique touch of rustic French style for your interior decor.
