Rare Antique English Engraved Glass “WORCESTER” Condiment Bottle
A charming and unusual small English glass vessel, finely engraved with the word “WORCESTER” in an elegant flowing copperplate-style script.
The bottle is beautifully made, with a small pouring spout, rounded/bell-shaped body and matching all-glass stopper. The engraving is particularly fine, with sweeping flourishes at both the beginning and end of the inscription, giving the word an attractive almost cartouche-like appearance.
The precise original purpose is uncertain, although the engraved “WORCESTER” strongly suggests an association with a Worcestershire-style sauce or other table condiment. Small English condiment bottles with glass stoppers are well documented from the 19th century, although this particular engraved form is unusual.
The glass is clear and bright and the bottle has the character of a carefully made hand-blown vessel. The engraving is copper-wheel engraved, rather than simply etched or printed.
Specialist expert opinion places the piece in the later 19th century, rather than the 18th century. It is therefore offered conservatively as a 19th-century English engraved condiment bottle.

Very good antique condition. The matching glass stopper is present and fits correctly. There are minor signs of age and handling consistent with an antique glass vessel.
